Bawean Island is a very beautiful small island, located 135 KM north of Gresik City, Bawean Island is also known as Putri Island, because the inhabitants of Bawean Island are more women than men, why are there fewer men than women because, because many men on Bawean Island have migrated abroad, such as Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, Australia and so on.

There are also those who call Bawean Island the Pearl hidden in the Java Sea, and there are also those who call Bawean Island Nirvana in the Java Sea.

A. Origin of the Name Bawean 

The origin of the ship named Bawean comes from the Majapahit Kingdom which was stranded in the morning when the sun had just risen due to being hit by a storm and large waves in the middle of the sea and one of the passengers on the ship was called Bawean.

The meaning of Bawean itself comes from Sanskrit which means sunlight.

B. Distance from Bawean Island to the Capital City 

Bawean Island has two (2) sub-districts, namely Sangkapura and Tambak sub-districts, while the estimated distance from Bawean Island to the capital city of Gresik is 80 miles. If the trip to Bawean Island is taken by sea, it takes 4 hours by fast boat, 8 hours by cargo ship and 25 minutes if using a plane from Bawean to Surabaya.

C. Majority of Bawean Residents 

The majority of Bawean residents are Muslim, the language used is Bawean, Bawean language is almost similar to Madurese but different, the differences are like Indonesian and Malay are almost similar but not the same.

Noko Island has very beautiful coral reefs and has white sand like a clean and charming carpet and is very suitable for those of you who like snorkeling.

Kastoba Lake is a lake located on a mountain surrounded by virgin forest, which has a very beautiful and cool view when viewed. 

3. Tanjung Ga'an Beach Tourism
